Interested in breeding advice for El Corredor filly

Postby vallygirl927 » Mon Aug 24, 2009 12:46 pm

Breeding advice for my new filly. Looking for an early 10' cover for breed to race, or possibly regional commercial market. Up to $7,500 dollar stud fee in California.

I would do Stormin Fever without a doubt on pedigree alone, but I don't know what your horse looks like.

I'd look for a stud with Hail to Reason .. but offhand not sure who has it that's out there.

That's exactly what I was thinking....there's minister's wildcat, marino marini and flame thrower..haha, literally just as I'm writing this I get a call from Clay Murdock with Rancho San Miguel offering me a deal on the stud fee with Marino Marini....that's funny...

In your place, I would send her to Kafwain.

I agree with Madelyn. I was sorry to see Kafwain leave Kentucky.

What's the hypo look like with Marino Marini? I like him better than Kafwain but it does seem that his good runners are by sons/grandsons of Mr. P

Are you breeding to sell or race? Just wondering because if you were breeding to race and went to a stud without ND in him then you could look to cross that foal to one who might be 3 x 4 to him.

Flame Thrower has HTF closer in the pedigree so you'd have 4 x 5 instead of 5 x 5.

Northern Dancer stallions, especially through Storm Bird and Storm Cat, have produced quite a few Grade 1 stakes winners when crossed with Seattle Slew/Mr. Prospector mares, so it's definitely worth trying. 8)

He is out of your region and possibly out of your price range, but check out her mating with Street Sense to 6 generations.

My mare is FINALLY in foal to Stormin Fever after 3 breedings. Will be expecting an April foal in 2011!
