NG Season

Postby mehile » Mon Jun 13, 2011 9:38 pm

I've got a quick question about the inner workings of a NG Season.

If you purchase one would that entitle you to one mating to the stud and that's it, she either gets in foal or she doesn't, or do you have the whole season to try and get her to settle?

You have the whole season. It's not a one jump deal.

In case you're interested, you can insure a no guarantee season, both against the mare losing the foal after she conceives and against her not getting in foal to begin with.

@ LB,

Do you know the approx rates for insuring a no gurantee season? I insured my filly this year and was surprised at how inexpensive it was!

Pregnancy/NG Season insurance is more expensive than foal mortality insurance.

Would it be worth it in regards to it being significantly less then the difference between a NG season and a LF guarantee season?

Where would you go to get the insurance (both foal and NG Season)?

Some NG's offer rebreeds the following year if the mare does not get in foal.

Some foal insurance doen't apply until the mare is 45 days preganant. Seems once she's 45 days along the chance of her losing the foal is MUCH LESS than the time period when you are trying to get her in foal and the first 45 days. Tread carefully.

What kind of insurance are you looking for?

Best thing might be to talk to a good agent about what's available and what it will cost. I can pm you a name if you like.

Alex Neuman in Lexington KY helped me a lot when I was first shopping. Great guy to talk too.
