would you breed your mare on a "D" nick..

if that dosage profile looked like this and the cross produced stakes horses?
DP = 6-2-15-4-1 (28) DI = 1.24 CD = 0.29; GSV = 53.86

or a "C" nick if it looked like this?
5-6-18-0-1 (30) DI = 2.00 CD = 0.47; GSV = 60.47
The D nick is with a stallion named Kingkiowa, and the mare is Divine Destiny.
The C nick is a Danzig son
Thanks!

There are many other things that I would weigh more heavily than a nick rating. So while a good grade might provide reinforcement for something I already wanted to do, a bad one wouldn't prevent me from doing something I otherwise liked.

For the first year she raced, Zenyatta's breeding was rated a C. I believe it was upgraded (due to her accomplishments) after that.

If you don't care for the "D" try nicking your mare's dam with the same stallion. After all most agree the bottom line in more important than the sire line.

One of my mares was a "B" and her dam as an "A+" with the same stallion

If breeding to sell, I would pay attention to nicks as so many base their decisions on them.

This.

And it irritates me beyond measure that I actually have to consider it when planning commercial matings since I find it essentially useless.

Giants Causeway with Beware Of The Ace is "D" when using True Nicks and an "A+++" when using eNicks

Same with Stormy Atlantic.

So if you want to beed a mare and do't like the nick rating try another Nicking system

What is also beyond moronic is seeing a horse who couldn't run at all being advertised for sale needing a new career as an "A+ nick"...just why does that matter?
