I have a mare, Beat It, that is currently in foal to Temple City (due 3/25) that became "mine" after her owner quit paying last year. Since it looks like she isn't going anywhere I researched her and am thinking of sending her to Johar. Mill Ridge offered a decent discount on him for this mare - actually it turns out she was born and raised at Mill Ridge. My rationale is to take the mare to the sireline that WORKED with her family (ie Proud Citizen - Johar is by Gone West) and with Johar I am doubling on Sharpen Up. Naturally the "nick" is ridiculous - an F or something.
Thoughts anyone?

Give the Pope and the King of England a horse and in thirty days, they'll be stealing halters.

Am I right that this mare hasn't produced a winner yet?
She was even bred to Galileo and that couldn't produce a winner.
Save your money and give this mare away as a trail ride horse.

You got the wrong horse. This is the Proud Citizen, not the Diesis; Beat It.

Um, the mare I have is Beat It, by Diesis (GB) out of Drums of Freedom - half sister to Proud Citizen.
dublino is right, she has not had much run; in her defense she has kind of been all over the place and does not keep her condition easily. I have to wonder if all of that shipping took its toll on her and her resulting foals. I don't know anything about her Consolidator foal; I did have her here for the Ile St Louis colt and this is the mare that came in from LA who was just skin over bones and certainly did not LOOK two weeks from foaling. That colt eventually turned out all right.

I stand corrected. This is a tough call. A half to Proud Citizen and foals who never ran or ran only a few times. Perhaps this mare's foals never had a chance. The only one who went into training was One Oak.
I would wait until she drops the Temple City. If you like the foal I would breed her. She definitely has the pedigree to throw a runner..
