Carson City mare

Postby Tucumcari » Wed Nov 09, 2005 11:43 am

Miss City Princess. She has had two foals by Peaks and Valleys. The filly (only one to the races as of yet) was a stake winner at three. The colt is a yearling and in the process of getting broke even as I type. She has a Stephen Got Even weanling filly who is absoloutely gorgeous. Makes the other two look very weak. Neither of them are really my type of horse physically.
So we are thinking of Orientate for this year.
Any thoughts?

Dangerous commercially as he is in a "bubble year". His first foals will be racing as 2 year olds in 2006 and if they do not run, any foal produced on a 2006 cover will be unfashionable when it goes to market either as a weanling in 2007 or a yearling in 2008.

Her SW was the result of doubling up on the successful Blushing Groom/Nijinsky cross. You could certainly try that again with Runaway Groom, Cherokee Run, Kafwain, Congaree, etc.

The Stephen Got Even mating brought Blushing Groom as well as the very successful Slew/Mr. P cross (linebreeding to Myrtlewood). I would probably try to follow that same course - Malibu Moon, Friends Lake, Golden Missile, Sky Mesa, Matty G, Jump Start, Doneraile Court, etc.

Another play would be to linebreed Mr. P via Fappiano - Saarland, Eddington, Tapit, Songandaprayer, Buddha, Eurosilver, Quiet American, etc.

Best of luck.

Detox, dkb/br. H, 1989 by Dr.Blum out of Cornish Art

He re-enters Aspidistra through Dr.Fager and Tellaris.
He was a very consistent performer and will re-equilibrate the DP of the foal.
Good luck.

Wow, what a NICE mare! She has the potential for a great many successful matings, such as the obviously successful cross with Peaks and Valleys. Congratulations!

Miss City Princess already has what I feel is THE four-way cross of the late 20th century: Intentionally/Aspidistra/Rough'n'Tumble/Wild Risk. With Miss CP, the first three come from Great Above, and the last one comes in from Carson City via Blushing Groom. This combination keeps popping up over and over with classy, high-quality runners, most notably champions Unbridled and Macho Uno. Once there, it will combine with a great many other bloodlines and get spectacular runners. There is one more strain that has given this cross serious star-power kazaam: The Axe II. For your mare, should you choose to add The Axe II, the best influence is Relaunch.

Carson City + Relaunch: City Zip (Gr 1), Quintons Gold (over $240k), etc.

Great Above did not have any foals out of Relaunch mares, but adding The Axe II (through Al Hattab and Hatchet Man) created champion Holy Bull, stakes winner Rockford Peach, etc.

Most Relaunch-line stallions standing now are products of the successful Relaunch over Seattle Slew cross, which brings in the cross to Myrtlewood that Roving Boy mentioned.

Relaunch/Slew stallions:

TIZNOW Winstar $30k? -- might increase for next year
OFFICER Gainesway $15k -- more dangerous as it is a bubble year for him.
SLEW GIN FIZZ Ocala Stud, $5k -- very interesting on paper as he is tail-female to Myrtlewood without Mr P, but doesn't seem to be getting good north american runners.

Other:

HONOUR AND GLORY Coolmore $15k -- according to today's Stallion Register, has a recent allowance winner out of a Carson City mare and recent winner out of a Great Above mare.
