Saint Ballado as broodmare sire
What is Saint Ballado's success as a broodmare sire? I don't see his name anywhere on the list, either lifetime or current.

Devils Bag as a broodmare sire has 13 listed sires advertised at stallionregister (not arguing they are good are bad). He is 1981.
saint ballado has 1. He is 1989. I would agree with Chicago that SB will start having some future success as a broodmare sire.
I had read an opinion that rarely is sire a good sire and a broodmare sire. They sited some exceptions but generally it is one or the other. They stated that when a sire starts becoming a good broodmare sire that the sire line starts to fade away. Do you think that has any merit?

Leading broodmare sires are almost always a function of the quality of mares that they covered at stud. Secretariat is thought of as a great broodmare sire but he served some of the best mares and his daughters visited top class stallions as they had great pedigrees.
Saint Ballado started in Florida and with all respect to breeders there and not wanting to come off as elitist, didn't get the quality of mare with the required female family to sustain him as a broodmare sire. Expect him to improve with the pedigrees of his daughters having a little more to them in his KY crops.
