Flight Rage

Postby austique » Wed Mar 22, 2006 5:26 pm

Any suggestions on her? She's currently in New York, but can catch a ride to KY with another mare we're sending. Bloodstock agent is suggesting Chief Seattle who I like, but I'm not so fond of inbreeding to Icecapade. First person to ask me if I'm breeding to race or sell gets smacked!

Duh! Her pedigree:

Artax has a GSP winner from the same family. Might work again!

Hmm...not so hot on Artax at his current price, but his daddy is quite nice. I also got a vote for Military who also may be a bit overpriced right now. Any others? Also, this mare pulls several strains of Nearco in almost any hypo, is that a big issue? Any way to avoid it or water it down?

When I did a search on Flight Rage pedigree, I found their was no (Fair Play) sire line within her 5 generation pedigree.

Honour and Glory, Valid Expections, or Successful Appeal are stallions that would bring in an outcross of (Fair Play) to the table.

As I have posted in the past this (Phalaris) and (Fair Play) cross has produced an abundance of superior runners.

Thanks Louis! I hadn't even thought about that line.

Hope I'm not too late to get an opinion in

Desert Warrior - B Nick
Fast Play D+ Nick
Millenium Wind - B Nick
Roaring Fever - A Nick
Say Florida Sandy - B+ Nick
Western Expression D+ Nick
Wheelaway - B Nick

I rather like Desert Warrior. 1/2 to Storm Cat, B Nick, same female family as Shenanigans which would go well with the Icecapade. Also, same female family as Terlingua (obviously).

Obviously...never seen him in person and he is unproven...BUT...he *may* have been trained into a shorter career, although 16 starts is pretty good for many studs today. I like that the inbreeding is only in 5th generation, etc., etc. For what it's worth :?

I'm not a breeder. But I think you could put her with a speedier Slew son (like Chief Seattle) or some Northern Dancer.

Anybody like her with Eavesdropper? My season for him this year is already spoken for, but I was thinking about buying another for her given the female family likes Kingmambo a bit.

Desert Warrior was one I hadn't considered. I have looked at Roaring Fever, but I'd sort of like to get her to a proven sire although apparently there are none  They've all disappeared  I also looked at Catienus. I don't really love Storm Cat all that much, but goodness gracious, he's everywhere. Hmm...
