Battle Cat

Postby Simengineer » Mon Aug 11, 2008 11:37 am

While scanning through the weekend's stakes races I took note of this:

GOLD STRIKE MILE S., Assiniboia Downs, 3 yo, Open, 1 mile
1. Spying Eyes, dkb.g. 3, by BATTLE CAT -- Bashful Dancer, by Bashful Cloud
2. Custody Battle, b.g. 3, by BATTLE CAT -- Belle's Secret, by Secret Odds
3. Pulledmeout, ch.g. 3, by Crystal Gulch -- Express Trip, by Saratoga Express

GOLD STRIKE MILE S., Assiniboia Downs, 3 yo Fillies, 1 mile
1. Bella Mariella, dkb.f. 3, by BATTLE CAT -- Atholton, by Mari's Book
2. Meow Wow, b.f. 3, by BATTLE CAT -- Bridled Song, by Seattle Song
3. Benzerella, dkb.f. 3, BATTLE CAT -- Right O, by Eastern Lord

That's 5 of the 6 placings for 1 sire. I find that remarkable even if it is in a regional market. What can anyone tell me of Battle Cat? And please excuse my ignorance, but where is Assiniboia Downs?

It's in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in Canada. It's really a regional market there. Battle Cat stands at Ziprick THoroughbreds in Russell, Manitoba.

Hi

Battle Cat had a record of 18-1-4-1 on the racetrack, and earnings of $32,447. He is a full brother to the stakes winner, Storm Commander. Assiniboia Downs is located in Winnepeg, Manitoba Canada.

It's because I didn't take the time to spell out Assiniboia. :D

Thanks to you both.

So, for our friends from the north, what kind of empression is he making? I'm not an breeder or even an owner, I'm just curious.
