Well I know of 4 sons of El Prado the have foals racing Medaglia dOro and Kittens Joy seem to be doing pretty good, then there is the deceased totally off the radar Thatsusintheolbean who showed promise regionally and there's Mr Livingston in Florida. Seems like Mr L is the only one slacking. Fort Prado's speed and durability will serve him well at stud, I like his chances though I would rather have seen him in Canada, NY, Fla, or Pa.

I keep asking to myself why he was not retired to become a sire at a younger age; this, regardless I am quite aware the he was racing with certain success. Is there a certain lack of faith on his bottom line? Any
unconspicuous rationale? Hey, this is a son of El Prado!

Not sure Jorge but I think the Block's enjoy winning nice stake races and like you say the bottom line is a bit thin. Remember up until about 6 months ago being a son of El Prado didn't mean much to most people.

I'm completely impressed by Fort Prado's durability. To have the soundness (of body and mind) to compete in good company into his ninth year is just awesome!

I would take a chance on his bottom line to get some of that soundness.

That bottom-line is not as weak as it appears at first glance. The family has produced Theatrical and Landaluce, who were both spectacular in their time. Theatrical also proved to be a very good stallion.

This branch of that family found itself in Florida though, so was never bred to the class of stallions that the other branches were. Yet they can still get a good horse. Or maybe I'm just biased. I own a half-sister to Fort Prado's dam.

He was a nice horse, and I get the impression that the Block family means to support him to the best of their ability, so he ought to have a decent chance of making it as a regional sire. He certainly offers durability as well as talent.

Well, Fort Prado will be well looked after at Hill n Dale. I visited Chicago Six and Whajyathink there a few years ago and it's lovely. At the very least he will enjoy his retirement.

I would have love to see him in PA also, closer to me.....He is from the second dam of one of my mares and Thatsusintheolbean is from the female family of another one of my mares. I love the El Pardo sons I have two Artie Schiller yearlings, a colt and a filly....they both are awesome. I would breed to Fort Pardo in a heartbeat if he was closer to me.
