Hail To Reason sire line on the climb?

Postby roving boy » Thu Mar 03, 2005 2:40 pm

In the general discussion forum there is a thread pointing out that the 3 top handicap males in the country are HTR line horses:

Saint Liam (Saint Ballado)
Roses In May (Devil His Due)
Rock Hard Ten (Kris S)

I have asked the question (or opined) that perhaps the reason for the success of the HTR sire line is the saturation of Mr. P and ND blood in the general population - making HTR blood an outcross in many circumstances! Consider that Rock Hard Ten is out of a Mr. P mare, and that Saint Liam's dam carries both Mr. P and ND.

I think the preponderance of Mr. P and ND blood sets it up for another sire line and would also point to 2004 Leading Freshmen Sires Yes Its True and Successful Appeal as evidence.

What do you think?

Perhaps HTR is in an ascendancy, or perhaps it is just that the MP and ND lines are coming back to the pack, creating the illusion that other lines are rising. Only time will tell if we are witnessing an anomaly or a structural shift of dominance of sire lines.

im hoping that the HTR line comes back strong.....devil his due ect.....the nonsense that horses desending from turn- to leads to break downs is utter rubbish.

A few from the Hail to Reason sire line have done well.

To name a few
1. Sunday Silence
2. Kris S.
3. Dynaformer
4. Saint Ballado
5. Silver Hawk

All five of these sires have had great success coming from the Hail to Reason sire line. You have to give some credit to Roberto and Halo.

Hi all: What is of particular interest is that during the less decade, H2R sires were only 13% of all studs standing internationally. Bold Ruler studs were only 7%. Look out Cats and Prospectors :!: Sincerely, Shammy
