Not apparently much action with this guy in the breeding shed, despite being at 3 Chimneys. Has anybody seen him? The thread on Rahy speaking to problems with his sons (i.e. reputation as a 'filly sire') says a little. But he has yearlings now and apparently the one or two for sale didn't get much notice. I thought he would have had a good first book.
He apparently had real brilliance (NTR holder) and won G2 races on turf and AW and ran second in a G2 (Peter Pan) on dirt.
FF is loaded and Kittens Joy is taking off as a sire.
Whatcha think? Anybody see him or his get?

I would argue that given their track record with unproven sires, that being at Three Chimneys is one of the knocks against him!
Silver Charm
Albert the Great
Smarty Jones
Atticus
Joyeux Danseur
Point Given
Every single one of them started at 3C, and with the exception of Point Given, all were exiled within 2 years of their first crops running. Not exactly a point of confidence.....
From what I gather, they don't have a lot of their own mares to breed to, hence don't have that immediate Wow factor at the sales with multiple unproven horses going for a gazzillion dollars. So they really need to hit a home run or two very early on or else it's Adios?

I find it hard to believe 3 Chims cant come up with quality mares of their own to send to him. That leads me to believe they don't want to support him and don't see him being stellar. I don't think they were expecting a huge hit from him at the sales compared to their other stallions, but I see him being a regional sire in 3 to 4 years.
He made my list when I was selecting a sire. It comes down to that he rates a touch below others in his fee range; in regard to foal marketability and/or racing prospect. Unless your dead set on a Rahy line sire or your getting a complimentry season your probably going elsewhere. You can get a small discount on him but 3chim isnt willing to do some of the more creative contracts that others are doing, which in this market makes all the difference in the world.

I had 1 filly so far and she is very nice with plenty of leg. 2nd foal out of a Dayjur mare.
2 more to come. Had a Placentitis colt born early/dead in Feb. - he was nice as well - oh well...
I think this stallion will do well for our breed to race program @ Woodbine. Not commercial because of the grass ped - people are not so smart to overlook this guy.

On paper genetically I see tons of correct confirmation, a horse that won at 2,3,4 & 5 - soundness as the pedigree suggests. A quality racehorse indeed. He is very pleasing in appearance There are honest great quality racehorses in 3 generations that ran on dirt, turf and poly very very successfully. REAL black type - not the "bogus" stuff. Spectacular Bid is down in there too.
I like class in stallions this guy has it. It is surprising that he is not more popular. They may not get the 2-y-o "pops" but I'll take racers that win lot's of money at 3 & 4. The main thing is to get horses that can run and stay sound enough to run more than 6 times. I feel he will move up his mares quite nicely.
This guy is a steal right now to breed to. Do not expect them to run at 2 or be popular as yearlings because very few will be cutting '10's in Ocala.

I know Three Chimneys doesn't have much going on. I don't care if this horse stood at the Flying J - He ought to give you a good foal that can hold up and run well providing it gets trained properly.
