I don't think it was lack of use that sent him back to KY.

He only got 37 mares in Kentucky with 51% in foal, in 2011. I think it's he's moving in the right direction, but I don't know if Kentucky will support him. If Stronach does, that's all he really needs.

If readers will do some 'due diligence'. They may find that there are other reasons that California racing is being bashed on this forum. I'm sure that many costs are less in Kentucky, lots of small breeders can play because land and hay and other costs are less. If one can't make it in California, then by all means go to Kentucky, don't let the door hit ya on the way out

Here in California, 100# bale is going for $20. So figure minimum of 20# of hay per horse per day, that would be $4.00 per day approximately. Cost would be adjusted by how much other feeds/ oats/ sweet feed etc. the horse might be getting also. I'm guessing the same bale of hay in the midwest/south would be 1/2 that or less.
