Midnight Lucky just destroyed the field (once again) in the Sunland Oaks...and set a NTR in only her second start.

Wow! Definitely a filly to watch.

And two more Midnight Lutes to run in the Sunland Derby, up next.

Midnight Lucky

She made it look easy!!! The first quarter in 21 made me a little nervous and when she went to the front with 3-4 furlongs to go, I was even more worried. I don't think the jockey ever touched her. She cantered across the finish line, maybe 5 lengths or more ahead of the place horse. She really is a FREAK!! :D

Govenor Charlie (another Midnight Lute) just won the Sunland Derby, and--you guessed it--NTR!

That's the third track record broken today, so the track is fast, but still. These Midnight Lutes are turning in some amazing performances.

Govenor Charlie

I didn't get to see this one....had to go to work. Did Govenor Charlie make it look easy like his cousin, Midnight Lucky? Exactly what appropriately describes their relationship? They have the same father, Midnight Lute, and their mothers are both daughters of Silverbulletday.

Jagger, he won going away and made it look easy. Not sure of the exact margin. You'll probably be able to Google the race within the hour.

Silverbulletday, and two of her daughters have gone to Midnight Lute. Someone thinks that this is a great cross. Can't argue with the results.

Midnight Lute may very well have been a distance horse, however his breathing problems, and the training kept him running short. Which genetically means that he may breed more like a miler. Or maybe even a classic horse. Should be interesting to keep track of his runners.

Everyone seems to think they will have distance limitations...doesn't Real Quiet factor into any of this? He got the Derby distance, no problem.
