Here's the thing about Midnight :Lute. If he had a breathing problem that limited his distance running, he still have the ability to sprint. And from his pedigree, and conformation, he has the genetics to pass on distance. So, he contributes both speed, and stamina, while his race record shows only the speed elements.

I"d guess he's likely to get some classic horses in time.

He certainly looks the part in person. Just spectacular. Every bit of 17h. Has the "presence" of a great horse. His Dad came closer to winning the Triple Crown than any horse in history. BM sire was BM sire of the year twice I think....as was his grand sire.

Hill N Dale raises Midnight Lute's 2013 stud fee from 15K to 20K.

Two words War Front.

What was his hike from to $60,000???

I don't think Hill n Dale are overly hiking the fee the only grumble that its mid season and they should have waited until after the Triple Crown as another fee hike will then look like greed.

War Front is now $80,000 - when did that happen?

Zenyatta foals another colt by Tapit this time.

Maybe War Front could be next in line?
Two colts by AP Indy line will they go there again?

Anyone know of the plans?

I just posted this on the other thread...

"On another note, after reading through comments on the Paulick Report, JS is vilified for increasing Midnight Lute's stud fee by 33%.. I thought it was worth pointing out the ML is clearly leading all second crop sires in earnings, wins and stakes wins. It was not that long ago that Spendthrift increased Into Mischief's stud fee from an advertised $7500 to $20,000 (an increase of 167%!) when his progeny started to make headlines. My point is that Mr. Hughes is really not all that different from Mr. Sikura but is coming out smelling like a rose."

edited for bad math
