Komejhen won his second allowance in a 6.5f nail-biter at the Hipodromo de Las Americas April 19. The favorite took the lead early then Komejhen and Fittipaldi flew by and dead heated for the win. Komejhen has stepped up this year, this is his 3d victory, 1 MSW and 2 allowances.

The following juvenile is a half-brother to Invasor, but sired by Tapit.

His name is: LOOK OF EAGLES (grey/ro c 2012) http://www.pedigreequery.com/look+of+eagles5

Invasor Luck was 3d of 7 in a 1m 2f race on synthetic at Lingfield. He was 2nd or 3d the entire race instead of making a run from behind as he did last time. He and the 2nd place runner traded places twice, Invasor Luck lost 2nd at the very end by a neck, and finished 1 3/4 lengths behind the winner. I was excited about this race because Arbaah, his half sister, won it last year. It would have been a great story! But that's horse racing.

Spanish Invader wheeled back after 10 days and took 2nd in a mile & 70 race at Mountaineer. He was 2nd the entire race, battling gamely and drawing even at the 3/16 but was outfinished at the end.

It will be interesting to see what the Quendom x Tapit cross produces - Look of Eagles, may it be so!

Kentucky Coin was 2nd of 7 in his 2014 debut in Russia at 1800m
http://translate.google.com/translate?h ... e_id=13946

Last year he seemed not to have trained on, his best result was 3d at 2800m the only time he ran over 2000m. This is a good start for a stayer.

The third Invasor in Russia, Moon Song (Lunnaya Pesnya), was 6th of 10 at a mile in her debut in Rostov.

Shamadaan was 2nd of 8 in a 5f race at Suffolk Downs. He dueled early, dropped back on the turn, then came on again to challenge and just miss by a head.

Photon is one of my favorites. He's been very consistent, earning $255,955 in New York. He's a good miler/sprinter, not fast enough to be top class. Of course I thought he might be better longer and that they should try him on grass. He has a much better record than his half brother Banshee Brad who set a course record at 7 the only time he ran over 1 1/8. Instead, Photon is going the wrong way. His last two races were by far the worst in his life. He didn't just finish up the track, he was done early. He either has a physical problem after 33 races or he's burned out. He was the second betting choice and was claimed for $25,000 today by a new trainer. Most trainers run a claim right back to recoup some of their money. Maybe Photon is OK physically and maybe this trainer is different and will put a lot of effort into figuring Photon out. (I have a bad track record with ideas like this.)

Succesful Brothers was 2nd of 6 in an Allowance at Churchill Downs at 1 1/8 miles. Sent off as the last betting choice, he pressed the pace 3 wide into the stretch. He was outfinished by the winner, a closer, but fought on to get the place.

Wrood made a good racing debut at Lingfield at a mile on polytrack and finished 2nd of 9. The race was for both sexes 3 to 5. She is trained by J B Fanshawe, who also trains Invasor Luck for the same owner, Mohamed Obaida.

Five days after just missing 1st place closing from midfield at 5f, Shamadaan was 3d at 6f. He speed dueled in 2nd for 5f and tired.

Shamadaan's 2 wins were at 7f and 6.5f as a front runner. But with more time between races.

Kentucky Coin wheeled back 7 days after running 2nd at 1800m and finished 3d of 6 at 1800m. His trainer's entries ran 1-2-3 and vacuumed up all the prize money, which seems to have been the plan. The winner got the go-to jockey and romped by 15. A G1 winning middle distance filly was 2d with Kentucky a length behind. It was 17 lengths to the next horse.

Waafir ran 3d of 8 in a 4f MSW on dirt at Les Bois Park in Idaho.
http://www.equibase.com/static/chart/pd ... 14USA2.pdf

This is a very American story. Waafir is 5, and his damsire is Kings Best, whose offspring include Workforce, winner of the Epsom Derby and the Arc de Triomphe. Waafir ran 8 times at Golden Gate in MCLs on synthetic, 6 of them sprints. His best result was 2nd at a mile from off the pace. He was 7th at a mile when he speed dueled. So don't use him hard early? Try grass? Nope, back to sprinting, then sold. Now it's short sprints. Luckily for Waafir he has some tactical speed and is OK on dirt, because he'll never see a route race on grass or have a trainer who looks at his pedigree. So it goes.
