Invasor [ARG]

Re: Invasor [ARG]
Invading Humor finished 3d of 9 in a 40K AOC on turf at Belmont. Nobody was available to be claimed. Invading Humor resisted being rated most of the way down the backstretch before settling and stalking the front runners. She finished willingly but was still a length behind the winner.

It would be good thing if she'd rate. She prefers to be a front runner and her best win was a Saratoga allowance at a mile as a front runner. But next time at Belmont she speed dueled and finished 4th. Still working it out.

Music Maid was 2nd of 5 in a mile 40K MCL at Belmont. She led for 1/2, was passed by 2 rivals then regained 2nd place.

In a footnote Muzu's new connections gave him a second chance on turf in a 1 1/8 mile Allowance at Churchhill Downs. This makes sense because Muzu's dam was Group 1 placed in France and England on turf. Muzu was dead last in his MSW racing debut on turf last year, eventually winning an MCL on dirt. Unfortunately Muzu would still rather eat grass than run on it. It would have been great to see his connections rewarded.

Twenty in One finished 2nd of 7 in a CD MSW at 1 1/16 miles. She angled out 4 wide on the second turn and finished willingly and well but could't catch the winner.

Invasive Cocktail, unraced since April 2014, returned to the track at Arapahoe and finished 2nd of 7 at 5f. He dueled through the stretch slowly grinding the leader down but was denied by a head bob.

Re: Invasor [ARG]
Shamadaan was 3d of 5 in a 5.5f dash at Suffolk Downs. Last time he just missed on a fast track, today the track was sloppy and Shamadaan does not seem to be one of Invasor's mudders. The winner was "an obvious mudlark who made every stride a winning one", the last place finisher "clearly didn't relish the slop", and Shamadaan "passed tired rivals".

Komejhen ran 4th of 12 in the 1 1/16 mile Gran Premio Nacional G1, second race of the Mexican Triple Crown. He missed 3d by just a neck. You can watch the race replay here (the article has Komejhen finishing 3d but, unfortunately, the official result is 4th). Komejhen, who never ran in anything but sprints and disappointed in his previous race, was sent off as the last betting choice but bettors found out that he likes mud and distance.

Empress Giok won a mixed sex race at 1700m on heavy turf yesterday. It was her first race over a mile and she seems to like an off track. The wall paper for the race result is just right, too.

Joey and Frankie was 3d in a 5f MSW at Presque Isle Downs. She pressed the pace as the favorite but the frontrunner held, she was briefly passed by 2 others then finished willingly for 3d.

Re: Invasor [ARG]
Good News! Mares from South America traveled to the USA to be bred to Invasor and 23 named foals of the 2013 crop were posted on pedigreequery. Invasor and Candy Stripes, his sire, produced very similar crops in the US. If they also produce similar crops in South America where precocious speed is not yet King, we should see better results, including a few that come here and beat up on our older horses.

Spanish Invader went wire-to-wire and won by 11 lengths ridden out at a mile&70 at Mountaineer. He was sent off as the favorite and didn't disappoint.

He ran twice at Churchill at higher prices without placing but seems to have gotten stronger. He may have also liked the good (sealed) track. In both wins he was in front early. May not like dirt in his face. They should try him on grass.

Re: Invasor [ARG]
Waafir finished 3d of 9 in a 6.5f MSW at Les Bois Park. The race was an extended speed duel between 2 horses who were 10 lengths ahead of the field. Waafir "flew late on the rail" to finish a head behind the winner.

What thoroughbreds sprint at a Quarter Horse track? The majority in this race had sires you've heard of: Invasor, Powerscourt, Cee's Tizzy, Offlee Wild and Broken Vow. Horses with a distance pedigree that aren't good sprinters end up here where 6f is a long race.
It makes it less surprising that California Chrome got the Classic distance with a "cheap" pedigree. His sire and dam's pedigrees were royal even though neither ran in a route race. Chrome got speed from his sire and distance capability from both. He also had an old fashioned trainer and brand new owners. It all came together. Most of the time it all falls apart.
