Hi Folks,
I am researching the deceased stallion Lion Cavern and just wondered if anyone could help with some of the following missing info please?
1. Which year he commenced stud duties -
2. Which studs he stood at during his career and which years -
3. Which stud he shuttled to for 3 seasons in Australia -
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Andrew

Last ad I have for him is from 2004 and has him at Wimbledon Stud in Lexington KY for $10k. His first 6 N. Hemi crops were all in England so I can't help ya there.

He stood at Lynden Park Stud on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula as a shuttle stallion.
Lion Cavern, the Mr Prospector stallion who shuttled to Lynden Park for three seasons between 2000 and 2002, has died from a colic attack in the Northern Hemishere. It was a blow to the breeding industry to lose such a lovely stallion.
A full brother to US champion sire Gone West, Lion Cavern died only days after arriving in Greece where he was to begin a new phase of his stud career in 2005.
Currently the third leading sire by percentage of winners to runners in Europe. Lion Cavern had sired 32 individual stakes performers including Champion fillies Crimplene and Silent Tribute.
Lion Cavern, from the Secretariart mare Secrettame, was a multiple G3 winner in England and a G2 winner in the US. He also filled G1 placings in the Middle Park Stakes and Poule d’Essai des Poulains in France.
He went to stud in the UK in 1994 and was later sold to Wimbledon Farm, from where he shuttled to Australia.
His oldest Australian progeny are now three with impressive city winning colts Lascaux ,Bull Mix and Jyi's Prospect flying the flag.He has eight crops of racing age in the northern hemisphere that include 18 stakeswinners. His winners to runners ratio was always a high 65%.
His noted winners include Crimplene, winner of four G1 races in the German and Irish 1000 Guineas, the Coronation Stakes and Nassau Stakes, G2 winner Harmonic Way ,G3 winning colt Latino Magic and Champion 2yo filly in Italy Silent Tribute.
The last of the yearlings by Lion Cavern will go throught the major yearlings sales in 2005.

Lion Cavern
Thankyou very much to everyone for your great help.
He is also some other bits of info that have come to me -
Lion Cavern stood at Wimbledon from 2000 - 2004. Before 2000 he stood
at Dalham Hall in Newmarket.
While the horse was in the UK he stood with Darley Stud Management at Dalham Hall and was exported to the USA 18th Oct 1999.
Lion Cavern stood 3 seasons at Lynden Park Stud in Australia. Lion Cavern was sold to a stud in Greece in June of 2004.
Lion Cavern (USA) died in August 2004.
Lion Cavern went to stud in 1994, standing under the Darley banner at Dalham Hall, Newmarket. He was exported to USA in 1999, and was sent to Greece in 2004, where he died in that year.
I am now trying to contact the Greek studbook to confirm a date of death. As you can see there are some discrepancies between year and month.
Thanks again to everyone for your help, it is greatly appreciated.
Best Wishes,
Andrew
