Half Ours

Postby Rokeby Forever » Wed Feb 21, 2007 7:34 pm

Let's see...an Unbridled's Song out of a Storm Cat mare that raced 4 times in its career. No, I'm not talking about Buddha. Off Buddha's first crop to race results, I would have thought that he'd be on his way to Malaysia by now. Why would I think the same about Half Ours?

Between Half Ours, Buddha, and Songandaprayer. three Unbridled's Song stallions have a combined 16 career starts. Where's that thread about "unsoundness" in this forum?

Oh Good Grief Rokeby....please don't make another outlet available in this thread, the entire site may crash and burn!!!!

(Whispering) I do happen to agree with your observations, not exactly the testament that Taylor Made was hoping for with those 3!!!

Be sure and mention Domestic Dispute (20), Even The Score (29), Unbridels King (29), Griffinite (28), Cojet (45), Agnes Sonic (19), Forest Music (18), Ambition Unbridled (20), and Ariannas Passion (17), when you are talking about how unsound the Unbridled's Songs are.

You go ahead and cherry pick the horses that will support your argument. Dont look at the whole picture, that would spoil all of your fun.

Stats

Postby hpkingjr » Wed Feb 21, 2007 9:42 pm

If you do not count the 2 year old progeny, US has 762 foals of racing age 3years+. 6,900 starts approx. 9 starts average. Since only 2/3 ever start they would average about 14 & 1/2 starts per actual runner.

Halo, you want to look at "the whole picture?"

Unbridled's Song sons at stud:

Arthur's Ring - 3 starts
Higher And Higher - 4 starts
Irish Road - 9 starts
My Golden Song - 6 starts
Rational Exuberance - 10 starts (over 2 seasons)
Song Of the Sword - 12 starts (over 2 seasons)
Unbridled Energy - 8 starts
Werblin - 10 starts (over FOUR seasons)

62 starts/8 stallions = 7.75 starts average each. Soundness? Or, is 8 stallions still cherrypicking? I've now given 12 examples of an US Song stallion that raced 12 times or less. I could go on, but I'm getting tired from typing.

So, my list of 8 stallions will be

Domestic Dispute- 20 starts

Even The Score- 29 starts

Griffinite- 28 starts

Unbridels King - (dont know if he's standing yet)- 33 starts

Song of the Sword - 12 starts

Rational Exuberance - 10 starts

Werblin - 10 starts

Irish Road - 9 starts

151 starts/8 stallions= 18.8 starts average each. Doesnt look too bad to me.

IF you want to discuss a stallions progeny's soundness in an intelligent manner, you need to include all of his foals, not just a small portion that you want to single out. I realize this site is notoriously incorrect, but a cursory glance of US's progeny list shows some horses with pretty significant starts.

Halo...you borrowed 4 stallions that I mentioned.

So, I named 12 stallions and you named 8...if we exclude the 4 in common, I named 8 and you named 4. I'm the one using a "small portion?" I'm the guy using 66% of the others named! Where is your logic...or 2nd Grade math?

Halo, let's take one that we didn't mention: Value Plus

He ran 15 times in his career. You'd probably argue that he was a sound horse to run that many times. I'd argue that he never ran more than 6 times in a year and that he was hindered by unsoundness. Which of us is correct?

Value Plus never did earn back the $1.1 Million he cost as a yearling...but he got 146 mares in his first season. The Unbridled's Song kiddie beat goes on.

P.S. I'm kinda looking forward to him retiring myself.

HA LOVE IT!
i would wear that with pride!
that blood isnt allowed even in my consignment let alone my barn!
Even if he does retire, his 1739000000 sons are going to shoot up in price, and the unraced ones will start breeding too. It will be long after our time before he is out of the picture. and i am just sick of all the Cat names. ehh could you be a little more original!

Well, Half Ours won a Grade 2 before he snaps something else. I guess that's what Jones and his $6 Million were hoping for.

Oh God yeah I hate all the cat names.
That's why I was hoping Pink Viper would become a star.
I'd love some PINK names or some VIPER names.
That would be "Cat Tastic"
