Doneraile Court

I went to the breeze ups at Tattersalls UK and saw 2 really smart 2 year olds by this stallion.

I have found out where he stands but would like opinons on him.

I ended up buying an alhaarth colt out of an alydar mare, I think hes rather nice but only time will tell :)

I was really impressed with the DC youngsters so all info welcomed.
Quality is not expensive.....It's priceless

I have a 4 yr old mare out of my best broodmare by Doneraile Court. I wanted to breed her rather than race as she is a beautiful looking animal but I think she would have been a very good race horse--- I wanted to get her started as a broodmare very early. She is a very dark bay with a lot of muscle and stands 16.1 hands. She has a great shoulder and back end with a nicely proportioned neck and beautiful head. Her feet are quite large but they do have a tendency to crack if not kept after, her most serious fault is that she is slightly sickled hocked but that came from her mare not the stallion. I hope she turns out to be the broodmare that I think she can be, she delivered me a beautiful Unforgettable Max colt about 3 weeks ago. I am finalizing her breeding partner for this year right now. I love DC and the foals he produces. I hope he is equally good as a broodmare sire. Hope all is well.
best regards Brendan

Now that surprises me :!: :!: :!: ...and seems contrary to everything I've come to expect of you. Respectfully bcassidy, am I missing something? By your own admission she is "beautiful looking" (your words), and you "think she would have been a very good race horse" (your words). Again...I am VERY VERY surprised, if not perplexed, by your decision to place her in the broodmare band without attempting to race her first. I guess I just can't get past your comment "...I think she would have been a very good race horse..."

My surprise aside...Doneraile Court is one handsome son of Seattle Slew...and he did sire a first-crop (2-yos of 2003) colt by the name of Ruler's Court that was quite talented. If you recall...that colt's outstanding win (and huge margin of victory) in the G2-Norfolk Stakes (for 2-year-olds) caught the attention of many. As a result of RC's impressive win in the Norfolk, Three Chimneys Farm apparently made a move to attempt to purchase Doneraile Court (Ruler's Court's sire) from Buck Pond Farm. When it was announced though (by RC's owner, Darley) that the colt would not run in the G1-BC Juvenile...but rather would be sent to Dubai to prepare for his three-year-old campaign and a probable run at the Kentucky Derby...the Three Chimneys deal never came to fruition. Despite 3Cs ultimate decision to pass on Doneraile Court, the young sire was sold to another and moved to stand at Hill n Dale Farm.

Subsequent to experiencing the initial attention that a freshman sire with a headline two-year-old runner can attract, Doneraile Court has arguably been quiet (maybe an understatement) when it comes to getting top runners...although an occasional advertisement serves as a remind that he is still alive (and hopefully well), standing today at Stonewall Farm and being promoted & hyped as best the farm can.

Problem is though (at least from my perspective), that unless Doneraile Court can deliver some runners of consequence, the promotion, hype and talk is just that...promotion, hype and talk. For quite some time now Doneraile Court's connections have talked-the-talk...don't you think it's time for DC to walk-the-walk...and deliver.

DC might have it in him to sire some very good runners...after all he is a graded stakes-winning son of Seattle Slew and only eleven-years-old; BUT, for whatever reason/s...he just doesn't seem to be getting much of a job done.

Maybe Doneraile Court will be more impressive as a broodmare sire than he's been thus far as a racehorse sire. In any case, hopefully your DC daughter will prove to be a star producer for you.

As of right now though...it seems to me that clearly the best move thus far, related to Doneraile Court, was when Buck Pond turned him into millions of cash, immediately after Ruler's Court's Norfolk S win.

Best to you.
