Stallion Suggestions?
I am looking for a stud in Kentucky in the $10,000 range to breed my Judge TC - Conquistador Cielo mare to. Any thoughts on who would make a nice match with her for next year.
breeding your stallion
I think there are actually some good stallions for $10k or less standing in Kentucky. Slew City Slew, Pioneering, Strategic Mission, Intidab, Cape
Canaveral, Out of Place, and Horse Chestnut, all of whom can get graded stakes winners and a decent percentage of stakes horses despite not having top mares.... There are others I am not even thinking of, plus a lot of unproven stallions. The question is which of these actually fit your mare's genetics...and, are you breeding to race or to sell? There are pedigree gurus on this site who would mate mares based on some pretty sophisticated strategies, and probably some of them get good results. Some simple things you can do are to pull the mare's extended catalog page and see what stallions were bred to the females in her family that got the best runners, and then do the same for the sire side by pulling the mare's sire's nicking report, to see how his other daughters performed on various sire lines. Then try to analyze the conformation of potential sires as to whether they will help your mare's weaknesses, and make up your mind as to whether to go with a stallion that shores up the speed, the stamina, or both...but keeping in mind that breeding a stamina mare to a speed sire is not necessarily a good idea, and vice versa. Hope this helps.

Is your girl Judge Dis Crystal?
I really like her with Five Star Day, if you can get a deal. I suspect he'll stay out of your price range. That match duplicates Mr. P, Northern D, and triples Best Turn at the fifth generation. Out of Place and Sultry Song both compound the Best Turn for 3x5x5 cross.
Her unusual pedigree likely would complement many of the KY boys.
