America's Next Top Damsire

Postby bdw0617 » Tue Aug 07, 2007 6:31 pm

lol, WHO IS IT!!!!

One thing I have learned quickly on this forum is that breeding is making educated gueses on who will pan out and who won't. For Instance, if you banked that Street Cry would be a successful Stud, you are sitting pretty right now with Street Cry Yearlings or 2YO's.

As far as DIRT goes... not turf, who is the next great thing as far as DIRT damsires go?

I've been (recently) fond of Relanuch, Diputy Minister & Dixieland Band as top Damsires.

However neither is getting any younger. is there any new blood out there that you are willing to bank on taht could be a top DIRT damsire in the next say, 5-10 years.. by betting dollars need to know!

With the early books they saw, Fusaichi Pegasus and Giant's Causeway will have no excuse if they fail as broodie sires. Ditto Forestry.

Street Cry should also have the books to make a nice broodie sire. I wouldn't be surprised if Awesome Again makes leading broodie sire at some point.

Lemon Drop Kid - just look at that female family.

If every royally bred family has or is going to have Storm Cat in it, how is it possible that a Storm Cat son or grandson will be a top damsire with all the Storm Cat sons and grandsons at stud? Storm Cat 2X2? Storm Cat 3X2? Etc, etc.....

america's NEXT top damsire... lol, AP Indy is standing for 300k, unless you see his fee going up to 700k sometime soon (and with the runners he's throwing out... hey) that's not much value.

I want to see the kids Rag's throws out. You think you've seen bidding frenzy now.. wait until she mates wtih a top sire and bidders aren't going to be able to control themselves

Not likely... 1) I'm not sure they would be for sale 2) you need the Doobie Brothers AND Coolmore to generate that kind of bidding war and since she has Coolmore connections, the Doobie Bros won't touch her or any foals from her.

I'd like to know who they are entertaining for her dance card, though.

Please note, I didn't not say I personally think those three (Forestry, Fusaichi Pegasus or Giant's Causeway) WILL be leading brooding sires... only that with the books they saw, they won't have an excuse if they fail.

If I had to pick ONE, I'd probably go with Street Cry right now, though I'd be hard pressed to chose between him and Awesome Again.

And there are still more than enough 2nd and 3rd gen Prospectors who are not carrying Storm Cat to cover any mares with SC.

Okay.. I'm going to throw a real stunner out there for ya...and tell me what you think.. I put alot of thought into this

Include

in basically 1 year of runners... he's produced what I think is the most versitile 3YO filly in the country if not the world in Panty Raid (with the best name) and has already sired Cash Included and Runaway Rosie.

I look forward to seeing what his fillies are doing in the future. Also his colts.. his best 3YO colt is a runner Etude... but way moreso his fillies.

I think Rags is THAT "special" of a horse that outside bidders, not from the game could get drawn into by having a "SUPERHORSE"... Let Bob Baffert get ahold of one of them.. he will make 8 millino look like a steal of an investment

That's not the point... other than Coolmore and the Arabs, there aren't a lot of people who can afford to spend $10m on a yearling/2yo. The Japanese have (sort of) stayed away the last few years... Baffert doesn't have the owners to draw that kind of heat anymore. With Godolphin et al out and Coolmore not having a reason to bid on their own stock (save maybe the insurance inflation), there's no one to drive that kind of high bidding. You'd have to hope Sekiguchi REALLY wanted the horse and that a few others decided to pool their money and start a partnership. There just aren't enough Bill Gates types aching to get into the industry and they aren't stupid enough to make their first purchase a $10m untried horse.

You're not getting it.

Look at the horses who commanded these outrageous sales prices. The majority of them had Coolmore or the Arabs (or both) driving those bids. WITHOUT THEM, there's little chance of reaching those high prices.
