Question about Family Number information in Progeny report

Postby markmhere » Thu Oct 18, 2007 9:28 am

I noticed that when a new horse is added to the database, there is no entry area for "family number". Is this automatically entered by the system? Also, the progeny report does not always show the family number for each foal. I know that the family number can be found when looking up the Pedigree Query, but why is this not always included in Progeny reports ?

Markm, I already answered your PM, but in case anyone else is wondering...

Yes, the database adds the family number automatically....or rather, when Miles and his crew run a script that updates it for all new entries to the database.

That particular script slows the database down tremendously, much more than the usual progeny update, so it only gets run every few weeks. If you keep checking those same progeny reports, you'll see the numbers show up eventually.
