Certainly had good speed. He won't really have more than a partial book this year, though, since I'd assume they still need to test breed him and start getting him used to the idea that it's OK to be sexual now. Not to mention that most of the better mares in Kentucky are already booked. Still, suppose Shadwell could switch some of their own lovelies to him.

I'm shocked by the 30k fee.

Granted he has a G1 and G2 win to his credit, but the horse is by a yet unproven sire of sires, out of an Irish Open mare, it's late in the season and he'll only have a partial book.

They're not making it very enticing to switch stallions last minute in my mind with that fee.

The dam is a very nice producer, but it seems they're using her and Spun Sugar's accomplishments as much as his own on the track. And to my eye, Spun Sugar wasn't even one of the best 50 mares to race in the last 5 years.

For an outfit that is usually moderate on setting fees, this one boggles my mind a bit.

Indeed 30k sounds kooky to me. I believe he was about to Flower Alley on them so they pretended he had an injury also.

That doesn't seem like Shadwell's usual style, and it's a bit late in the season to be retiring a horse on a questionable injury. But $30K does seem a bit high under the circumstances. He may well serve mostly home mares this season.

Perhaps they are using Discreet Cat as a guide

Clearly Daaher's bloodlines and natural speed make him the most commercial stallion Shadwell will be standing in the states. I too was surprised at the service fee considering their normal way of doing things. Perhaps Daaher's more "American" pedigree justifies the higher fee.
