I would appreciate any insight on his pedigree or conformation.

I have a weanling by him who I like. He is correct and big. Hopefully El Prado proves to be a sire of sires. Medaglia D'oro is off to a good start. AS's bottom line is solid but seems to throw better fillies. Ferdinand is from the family and was a bust as a sire. Artie Schiller had decent early speed going a mile which should serve him well.

For what it's worth, I think he is a very promising prospect, and expect his babies to hit the ground running. I have been getting positive feedback from several people regarding the excellent conformation and "attitude" of their Artie kids.

Thanks. I was also thinking about Senor Swinger in PA. If I am breeding to race, do you think the difference in stud fee ($15K vs $4k) is worth it?

I have to admit, I fell madly in love with Artie Schiller when I met him so maybe I'm not very objective. But I love the pedigree, the race record and the horse himself.

If you are foaling in PA, you might ASK Hurricane Hall if they are offering discounts for out of state mares. I know some farms in KY do that - so if you got 50% off it might be more attractive?

I've never seen Senor Swinger except in photos, so I can't comment - in my case, I don't send a mare to a stallion I haven't looked at in person. But I put a GREAT amount of faith in conformation, and I want to be sure the mare physically is a good match.

My mare will be visiting him next year. I am pleased with what his foals have done thus far and the El Prado x Forty Niner is meshing really well.

For the non TB folks I have said I am breeding to a sire who's sire is named after the museum that houses the painting I named my weanling after so therefore he has to be a good fit!

He's starting to move :D which SHOULD be about when most pedigree/bloodline people had expected him to.

Just crossing my fingers that GiGi gets in foal early and safely carries this future (filly?) foal!

As I recall Artie was right at 16.05" but he may have grown a bit and I don't recall if that was shod or barefoot...

I did go see him after I had posted... but then I necro'd the thread twice just in case the OP was still around and had some feedback on their AS who is now of racing age :D. He's a beautiful physical match with my mare, and after the trouble she had delivering the Nobiz I'd rather send her to stallions that are a bit shorter than she is.. She is 16.2.

At the present, I would prefer Paddy O’Prado over Senor Swinger by a small margin because albeit Senor Swinger has more fashionable bloodlines, I am still expecting more from him, while Paddy O’Prado may prove a bargain and looks to me like an alternative with more stamina. But only time will tell.

What does that have to do with Artie Schiller?
