Broken Vow

Postby LB » Thu Jan 22, 2009 3:30 pm

I was looking at our yearlings this afternoon. We have 2 Broken Vows, a filly and a colt, and I was struck once again by how much I like what that stallion is producing. His foals--the ones we have and others I've seen--are uniformly strong and athletic. Broken Vow has certainly done well already but I think he's really going to mature into an important stallion in the future.

Anyone else have any offspring of his, or have any opinions?

They tend to be a really good looking bunch, but unfortunately, it seems he's very much like his sire in the regard that they're either really good or struggle to win.

He does provide a lot of bone though.

I have a filly at the farm (unfortunately not mine) that is stunning! She is extremely athletic, very correct and has a beautiful body!

LB: Clement is conditioning one for me, a three year-old filly named KETUBAH. She is a very big girl, and took some time to come around, but is breezing 4 furlongs and is close to starting. According to all, she looks fantastic. Love to see some two-turn turf action!

dray, good luck with Ketubah!

Mood Swings, do you have any pictures?

ASB, bone is good. :) Our filly is built like a tank. This is her last spring, just under two months old:

What a beautiful filly and as good an ad for Broken Vow as his connections could hope for.

Thanks everyone! We're really pleased with her. Here's a pic I took yesterday (please excuse the mud :) ).

Great pic.

Is she headed for a sale?

Yes. <sigh> The ones we sell finance the ones we race--and the ones we race are pretty much the ones no one else wants to buy. :D So we'll probably offer her either next July or September in KY.

She's retained the bone and looks to have some fire. Nice filly. She should bring good money.

Hello Broadway, a half to Nobiz Like Shobiz, is by Broken Vow. Can anyone report on what he looks like?

Barclay Tagg refers to him as "a natural distance horse" and is gearing him up for the classics starting with the Hutcheson, then the Fountain of Youth and Florida Derby.

I haven't seen him--except on TV--but he's certainly an interesting horse to follow. I hope he does well on the Derby trail. :)
