quick question

my son asked, and i didn't have the answer:

"were there any GREAT sires that were unraced"?

Can't think of any stallion unraced as successful as Alibhai but a regional sire, Bold Badgett, was quite useful with numerous stakes winners in California. Believe he was a full to Desert Wine and a half to Excavate and Menifee.

I think you need to define what you mean by "GREAT" before anyone can offer suggestions that meet your criteria.

Don't know his age, but King of the Wind by Margeurite Henry is a good mature tween/early teen read.

Excellent question. As a base line, I would expect a Grade 1 winner(s) and maybe a Champion.

How about Ultimus by Commando. He sure shows up in a lot of pedigrees.
