Do you mean Taylor's Special? If you do, he was found in poor condition in (I believe) Washington state and rescued. Old Friends Equine said they would take him if the rescuer was not able to keep him.

Swaps, they are all sons of Taylor's Special

The only one listed as standing in the BRIS stallion directory is Special Invention (note, BRIS is not very accurate - tends to list a lot of dead and pensioned stallions).

This is the listing:

thanks, He was the only one I could find too. Is there any way to find out if the others are dead?

Strange...it posted me as a guest? Oh well. Any way to find out if they have progeny anywhere?

One way is to check JC breeding stats. 1997-2003 records are available online <http://www.jockeyclub.com/information.asp?reportrequest=LF>. No names & details tho'. (None of the stallions you mentioned show up in mares bred 2004. )

Halo, what did you think of him? I have a TS mare, and bred another one at the farm, and both had lovely temperments. Really nice big mares, very kind but a bit silly!

I adored him. He was very very tall, gorgeous head, beautiful way of moving. Kinda narrow, but moved very light on his feet. Broke down after his third start, had some real talent.

A friend of mine has a Taylors Special mare, she just foaled a Northern Afleet filly. She's just the opposite, very chunky, probably 16 hands or so, and real tough temperment.

Halo, where did he break down? I have noticed that both my mare and the other mare I bred had one knee that was over. My mare didn't break down, but I am pretty sure she has knee chips. She's just a broodmare, and I love her to bits so I don't really care. My original plan was to flip her as a Hunter prospect but it just never happened. She is light riding sound, and totally fine otherwise so I am not going to worry unless she starts getting sore.
What is the name of your friends mare?

He broke his pastern.

My friends mare is named Special n Sweet.

Do you know what happened to Taylors Special? Supposedly he was rescued out of a bad situation, and I had thought Old Friends was getting involved, in which case I was going to donate to his care, but I didnt hear anything more.

No, nothing else was said as to his where abouts. I hope he didn't end up at the packers.
