The greatest regional sires of all time

Postby oliverstoned » Thu Jun 25, 2009 5:38 pm

Just going from memory here and would love for people to remind or tell me about the greats in their region or ones I'm missing. I'm going to omit horses like Mr. Prospector who packed his bags and moved to Kentucky and I'll leave out the obvious greatest of all, Northern Dancer who I guess technically was a regional sire.

Maryland: Cyane, Smarten, John Alden, Citidancer, Allen's Prospect, Two Punch

New York: Cormorant, Talc

New Jersey: Slady Castle, Defere

Florida: In Reality, Nodouble

California: In Excess, Unusual Heat

Illinois: Zen

Canada: Bold Ruckus

Ahh....need some help here......

Maribeau, Vertex in NJ wow how the heck did I not know that and me forgetting Vice Regent inexcusable. Cyane in Va. does sound right now that you say it. Keep em coming.

I loved Zen.

It was exciting to see his name in Colonel John's and Mr. Hot Stuff's pedigree!

Yeah me too, wasn't Private Thoughts in Illinois around that time as well, he was pretty good too. I always get a kick out of seeing Rambuctious's (MD sire) name in the Gulch line.

The Pie King and Lucky Mel are two Cali-based stallions that went on to be pretty influential. Both their names pop up a lot when you see a Cali family start stepping up in class in a big way.
