G1 Idiot Proof to stand at River Edge for $1,500

Anyone had a look at him at the races? Just Curious, I got a mare in foal to Benchmark right now.

I think TT is wrong on the farm somehow. :?

I would think the farm is perfect for him. They could use many of the mares that had gone to Benchmark and help Idiot Proof. If they can get Idiot Proof off the ground it would validate all the efforts they have put into Benchmark.

Doesn't this article have the Wygod's farm wrong?

Well before I responded I should have read the article!

So the question is, did the article make a typo and mean Idiot Proof is going to River Edge, not Ballena Vista, or did TT make an assumption about where he is going because of the Wygod's ownership and they are chucking him down to Ballena Vista.
I'm going to assume TT messed up and that he is going to River Edge.

Anyone hear about River Edge's stud fees for 2010?

He is going to stand at Ballena Vista according to the CTBA website:

So much for my thesis :?

So the horse won $1m+ was a G1 winner and stands for $1,500.

The Green Monkey and other like him, wins nothing and stand for $5,000.

You want to know why there is problems in racing and people outside racing can't understand the "commercial" market.

But Idiot Proof will stand in California and The Green Monkey is in Florida, two quite different markets.

I'm not big on freshmen sires, but at that price if I was in Cali I would be sending my whole band his way. Great bargain for a very nice horse. Hopefully he gets the due he deserves.

I think he's priced right for the market right now. He's not from a spectacular female family and I don't see Benchmark becoming a sire of sires. He may have some success....but it will be interesting to see how Benchmark's other son Brother Derek does at Airdrie...

I think just being able to tell your friends that you bred your mare to "The Green Monkey" is worth the extra $3,500. I mean come on, .... "The Green Monkey"? No ones gonna believe some one named a 16 million dollar Thoroughbed "The Green Monkey" anymore than they're gonna believe you named the foal, "The Green Gorilla" (oops I was going to save that name for my foal, but I still got "The Orange Orangutan", ...oops).
