SUCCESSFUL APPEAL dk.b h. 1996
Valid Appeal--Successful Dancer, by Fortunate Prospect
Successful Appeal has an unusual pedigree.
The under performing sires in his pedigree are.
Fortunate Prospect---Northern Prospect---Staff Writer---Moslem Chief.
These sires are to be found in SA 1st 3 generations
SA sire side thru Valid Appeal to his 5th generation is over performing sires.
The following mares in SA pedigree make up for the under performing sires.
These mares are Desert Trial---My Dear Girl---Debonair Dancer---Scotch Verdict---and Fortunate Bid.
In SA 4th and 5 th generation more quality producers will be found.
The key to SA success is the family over the individual.

Successful Appeal is out breeding his pedigree, by producing a high % of superior runners.
Im expecting more superior runners when, SA has a book of mares equal to the task of consistently producing quality offspring. It is something to look forward to, as a new sire on the block is most welcome.

hi louis finochio...hello Mahubah...hi Bill from WA...hello all,
The depictions I have seen of Godolphin Arabian (and also Matchem...a grandson of GA) conjur the "look" that is (to a large degree) what I believe so unique to Successful Appeal.
Unique to the extent that I have NEVER seen a Valid Appeal son that had such an abundance of "qualities" about him as Successful Appeal possesses.
Successful Appeal is a "lovely" horse (in person...in the flesh) vs a neater and more compact...and/or thicker...and/or smooth yet cherubic looking...and/or a bit more coarse looking horse that I have come to expect of many of the Valid Appeal sons (example: Valid Expectations) and/or the In Realitys.
Successful Appeal (who appears to stand a solid 16-1+ HH) has an extremely "fleet" and "agile" look about him...even when he's standing still...
...and is (to my way of thinking) the beneficiary of a special measure of size...strength...balance and proportion. He is (in my opinion) a picture of a superior equine athlete.
I suggest that he is very unique to his sire line (in so many ways)...raising the question...is he a "throw-back" to something (possibly very special) from generations past ?
Is it possibly Man O'War...or Fair Play...or Hastings...or the Godolphin Arabian...
or who ?
Best to you.
Respectfully

Well, it isn't Man o' War to judge by the conformation shots I've seen; Big Red was rangy and high-headed, standing over a lot of ground and with plenty of bone. Just looking at him, even as a stallion with his racing days well past, you'd pick this horse for a stayer. His head type was very distinctive, not coarse or drafty looking but with a slightly convex profile -- rather aquiline to my eyes.
At least to me, Successful Appeal looks like a larger, more muscular version of his sire Valid Appeal, who was a bit light boned and rather upright in the pasters but nonetheless a very attractive, well balanced little horse and a very good stallion. I think SA resembles him more than either Valid Expectations or Valid Wager do. JMO.
