Yes, Kettle Corn's pedigree is interesting. My interest is always piqued when I see Vertex in a pedigree, and What A Pleasure also.

Apropos Vertex, I have seen his presence among the pedigree of various rare phenotyped horses. Here is one example:

Wow, Thank you Jorge. I was not familiar with that one at all. Do you think the presence of Vertex in these rare types is coincidental, or is he partly responsible?

I think that Vertex's presence (and that of his sire) has some minor influence, but unfortunately this is extremely difficult to prove because whenever horses like Vertex are found in a pedigree, the presence of other more prolific re-known contributing influences (like in this case, Speak John, Royal Charger, Alibhai and My Babu) are also there just to "spoil the party" and reduce the confidence of possible believers. At the end, for some of us, avid observers, it seems to be more a matter of faith than a matter of verifiable evidence.

Just as in the case of Directs Unique One, the "spoilers" of Vertex's party" are Speak John, Royal Charger, Alibhai and My Babu; in the case of Kettle Corn the "spoilers" of Vertex's party are What A Pleasure and Double Jay.

As you can see, it is quite difficult for Vertex to hoist his flag of influence and proclaim "hey, take me into account I am also here as a rare coat color influence".

Dear Collaborators:

Some of you are informing me about several German Thoroughbreds from yesteryears and I think it may be a great idea for all of our participants to share more on these quite interesting bloodlines. Therefore I am sharing a message just received from some of you:

"You can find more information (racing and progeny) on German sire Olymp at www.galopp-sieger.de ."

"Concerning this topic, there is an even rarer horse in Novellist's pedigree: Tuttlinger!"

"More information on Tuttlinger at www.galopp-sieger.de , too."

I would really appreciate your valuable participation.

Geowarrior,

Take note on the presence of Vertex in the pedigree
of this scintillatingly fast grey juvenile who almost broke Saratoga's
5-1/2 furlongs record today (VIII-23-2013)

There is a separate thread devoted to him on "The Color Corner"
Havana (grey c 2011) http://www.pedigreequery.com/havana20

Hello,
I not quite Sure, if following Sires in the ped of the 2 year old winner Born to Run (By Shirooco) would qulify for this topic.
His dam Sire is Tauchsport - Tuny - Zucchero - Nasrullah
Tauchsport stood in the former GDR and his best progeny was Registano, a top hurdler.
The Sire of his Grandam is Farat, stood in the former UdSSR, and to my surprise he trace to the very wellknown American Sire Man O'War via Raut - Behistoun - O'Grady - Relic - War Relic - Man O'War.
So some American blood was smuggled behind the Iron Curtain.

Regards, Bettina

Here is another one with a good collection of atypical ancestors.
