What will happen to all those mare deals they made this year offering 50% NG but return privilege next year if you didn't get a foal?

If they need a home for Leroi - I could build a new stallion stall..

I would imagine that, like many people who have done business with Stonewall over the years, they're out of luck. Hopefully any breeders who signed up for those deals were aware of their history. It's hardly been a secret.

This is kinda along the same topic since it has to do with Stonewall. I have a friend that is boarding(I use that term loosely) a yearling Indiana bred daughter of Strong Contender out of a Storm Bird mare that is owned by a man that owes him thousands of dollars. The filly has no papers as of yet due to the fact the stud fee has not been paid to Stonewall. Since he is getting no money for board, vet care, etc on any of the horses(there are 3 of them there), would it be in his best interest to contact Stonewall and attempt to work out some sort of deal on this filly? It would be great if he could recover at least some of his loss. There is also a 3 yr old Mingun colt with papers that are being held by Lanes End I believe and a Salt Lake filly that was transferred into the trainers name, so at least he can run her and try to get some funds back. He's feeding 3 of these horses, 2 of which do not have papers and he's getting deeper into it everyday. Anyone else ever deal with a scenario such as this and if so, how did you handle it?

He must first gain legal ownership of the horses, then contact the stallion farm. They can release the service certificate, he would agree in writing to have the papers issued and sent to the stallion farm, where they are held until the horse is sold. They place a lien when the horse goes to sale, the fee is paid from proceeds. It does not benefit anyone for the horse to be unregistered and then therefore unraced. We are breeding RACEhorses, right? The sooner this is done, the better, since the Jockey Club fees more than double after the horse's first birthday and go up and up from there.

Bluewater Sales is acting as receiver for the Bluewater horses and will sell them "at the appropriate sales"....stallion interests as well.

Stonewall has made things very difficult for its creditors by operating under a maze of shell corporations and entities. A true legal nightmare that will cost everyone a lot more money to get straight. The property itself is overbuilt but a true "turnkey" stallion facility - may be the most interesting asset available.

I worry that some of the stallions will suffer commercially because of their association regardless of their progeny's accomplishments on the track...I know I have steered clear of their stallions for several years because of the uncertainty surrounding the operation.

You have a gift for understatement.

We, too, have steered clear of their stallions because of the uncertainty; and I can't imagine that that won't hurt those horses commercially going forward.

At one point, Stonewall had a great broodmare band. But now 5 years have passed and those potentially good mares have been bred to their cheaper stallions and produced...in most cases...nothing. That's going to hurt them a lot commercially too.

Hi LB - do you remember when Rob Whiteley partnered with them on some mares? I wonder what has happened with those - Whiteley is a good guy and certainly has a successful track record....those mares could be worth a look in November.

Funny thing, someone else just asked me about the Rob Whiteley mares this morning. If any of the Stonewall mares have been bred with care and consideration, those would be the ones.

Those horse head sculptures on the gateposts give me the willies. Every time I drive past I think of the movie THE GODFATHER.

Seeing how I'm in Memphis and am a die hard Memphis tiger fan, I would bet that coach cal cursed them. Just my thought. I'm glad I didn't know they had UK crap all over the farm and damn glad I didn't send a mare to them

LOLOL.. omg UK crap is EVERYWHERE. You can't drive anywhere in the city of Lex without seeing a flag, banner, someone did something to their car, people standing on the side of the road with signs "I need tickets".. hahaha but I give them credit for being so dedicated. They dont have a national team to root for.
