Buckpasser line stallions - Lite The Fuse example

Postby DreamersPrincess » Thu Feb 17, 2005 12:03 pm

I have a Fappiano, MrP line mare. Buckpasser through females (e.g. storm cat) appears in many of the successful breedings and I see it said that Mr P over Buckpasser has been successful. So am curious about Buckpasser.

Lite The Fuse is an example of Buckpasser (through Buckaroo) line sire. Based on the limited number of Buckpasser line sires that I've found, am I correct in thinking that Buckpasser line sires (or buckpasser through males) may be only usefull in a niche type breeding, like if you wanted inbreeding to Buckpasser?

Does Buckpasser work well over any particular other sire lines or family lines?

Thanks
Kami

Buckpasser male line stallions work well over South American Blood and Montbrook is the only recent example of a Buckpasser male line stallion doing good with non-S.A. mares.

Interestingly, a son of Montbrook is going to be standing in Brazil, which should be interesting.

Buckpasser produced superior nicks when bred to mares that traced to the sire line of (Swynford) The dam sires were Cohoes 2-2-1----Le Haar2-2-1----Windy City II 1-1-1----Crepello 1-1----and Mr. Trouble 1-1.

Buckpasser produced superior nicks when bred to mares that traced to the sire line of (Tourbillon) The dam sires were Ambiorix 6-8----Le Beau Prince 2-2----My Babu 2-2----Primera 2-3----and Hitting Away 1-1.

If you have a Buckpasser line-bred mare 3X4 or 2X4 try to find a stallion that has a combination of the sire lines of (Swynford) and (Tourbillon)
The stallion would be a positive choice for your Buckpasser mare.

hi DreamersPrincess

Buckpasser over Northern Dancer has been a highly successful cross among modern thoroughbreds.

Examples: Champion Norcliffe...Champion L'Enjoleur...Champion La Prevoyante...(all are by Buckpasser and all are out of Northern Dancer daughters).

Northern Dancer over Buckpasser is highly successful also.

Examples: Champion El Gran Senor...Dance Number (G1 winner and dam of champion Rhythm and sire Not for Love)...Dokki (dam of Aptitude)...(all are by Northern Dancer and all are out of Buckpasser daughters).

And you can mix and match Northern Dancer and his sons and grandsons with Buckpasser and his sons and grandsons etc etc etc.

Examples: Touch Gold (is by N.D.'s grandson Deputy Minister and is out of a Buckpasser daughter)...Silken Cat (champion and dam of Speightstown) is by ND's grandson Storm Cat and her 2nd dam is by Buckpasser...Summer Squall (is by ND's son Storm Bird and his 2nd dam is Lassie Dear by Buckpasser)...etc etc etc
