What Will The Fees Be?
Anyone care to suggest fees for KY stallions for 2011? Any going up? Any going down? The adjustment period is usually done in a scuffle after Fasig Tipton October, but does anyone want to shed opinions post-Keeneland?
So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....
For what Mailbu Moon is doing his fee is correct at the moment because of the fillys he has running for him this year.
Without this super year he is having you would say his fee was a touch high.
Putting it any higher takes him into the Smart Strike & Pulpit range.
Pulpit has twice as many graded stakes horse from less foals as well.

Bluegrass Cat--down
Candy Ride--up
Exchange Rate--down
Rock Hard Ten--down
Macho Uno--down (or needs to, at least)

Speightstown--same, maybe up
Malibu Moon--up
Kitten's Joy--down (needs to be down at least a half)
Mr Greeley--down (for heaven's sake, down, and why are his yearlings selling like that when he has less than $60k average earnings?)
Tapit--same
Awesome Again--same
Indian Charlie--same, but wouldn't be surprised to see him go to $60k
Pulpit--same
Tiznow--same
Smart Strike--same
Elusive Quality--likely down, based on median yearling sales
Giant's Causeway, Distorted Humor, Medaglia D'oro, Street Cry--same
Unbridled's Song--hard to say, likely same or slightly down to $100k
AP Indy--same or private (he's getting older, they might get picky)
Dynaformer--same

He did because his fee was reasonable, and he just had a top 2 year old filly. Im not sure he's done anything since then to warrant raising that fee, especially with his sales. I dont think he needs to go above horses like Northern Afleet, City Zip, Holy Bull, Limehouse, Orientate, Pleasant Tap, Touch Gold, etc. Pretty stiff competition for mares in that $10K range.
