Anyone care to suggest fees for KY stallions for 2011? Any going up? Any going down? The adjustment period is usually done in a scuffle after Fasig Tipton October, but does anyone want to shed opinions post-Keeneland?

The only one I know for sure that's going up is Malibu Moon. They're still trying to figure out how much of an increase they can get away with. He's certainly had a spectacular year.

I completely agree with the increase for Malibu Moon. I'm going to guess $65,000.

For what Mailbu Moon is doing his fee is correct at the moment because of the fillys he has running for him this year.
Without this super year he is having you would say his fee was a touch high.
Putting it any higher takes him into the Smart Strike & Pulpit range.
Pulpit has twice as many graded stakes horse from less foals as well.

How about Big Brown?

I personally think unproven horses will be negotiable.

But Pulpit has received excellent mares from the start. Malibu Moon did most his heavy lifting with regional mares up until recently. Big difference that really puts that stat in a different light.

Pollard's Vision fee (currently 10K) is going up according to John J. Greely IV, as a result of progeny accomplishments and demand.

Im a little surprised at that. Sales results have been spotty, at best.

All guesses......
Mineshaft--same
Roman Ruler--down
Not For Love--same
Bluegrass Cat--down
Candy Ride--up
Exchange Rate--down
Rock Hard Ten--down
Macho Uno--down (or needs to, at least)
Dixie Union--same
Lemon Drop Kid--same, but given Lane's End seems to get it, maybe down
Speightstown--same, maybe up
Malibu Moon--up
Kitten's Joy--down (needs to be down at least a half)
Mr Greeley--down (for heaven's sake, down, and why are his yearlings selling like that when he has less than $60k average earnings?)
Tapit--same
Awesome Again--same
Indian Charlie--same, but wouldn't be surprised to see him go to $60k
Pulpit--same
Tiznow--same
Smart Strike--same
Elusive Quality--likely down, based on median yearling sales
Giant's Causeway, Distorted Humor, Medaglia D'oro, Street Cry--same
Unbridled's Song--hard to say, likely same or slightly down to $100k
AP Indy--same or private (he's getting older, they might get picky)
Dynaformer--same
Street Cry--same

I would agree, but on the other hand he bred 165 mares.

He did because his fee was reasonable, and he just had a top 2 year old filly. Im not sure he's done anything since then to warrant raising that fee, especially with his sales. I dont think he needs to go above horses like Northern Afleet, City Zip, Holy Bull, Limehouse, Orientate, Pleasant Tap, Touch Gold, etc. Pretty stiff competition for mares in that $10K range.

Y'all don't think city zip will go up? Now that the breeding world has found out his babies can run on turf also and excell, I see him going up maybe 2500
