Older Stallions: Who fits this bill?

Joe Taylor’s Complete Guide to Breeding and Raising Racehorses, Page 154:

“If your goal is to breed horses for racing, one of your best investments is shares in proven, older sires. The stallion that’s a good buy is the near-classic horse that is 17 years old, that has consistently been a top sire and whose stud fee has dropped from $75,000 down to say $40,000. Shares in this type of stallion typically sell for 1 ½ or two times the price of a season. You may find a share in this horse for $60,000-$80,000 from someone who is moving on to another stallion. These are exceptional buys for the person who is moving on to another stallion.”
