Well, I like this little stallions GSV score, but I'm puzzled. Hopefully, this is not a computing mistake but just the evidence of my ignorance in this area.
My question is: how can the sire and broodmare sire have a lower GSV score than the son?
Thanks for any help/explanation you can give me as soon as possible.

You may be looking at the GRASP instead of the GSV. GSV show up when you are viewing the Pedigree (e.g. Citidancer is near 80 (the pedigree db is not acting right for me to look up)... this shows up when you actually look at Citidancer's pedigree.. and relates to the strength of the individual and all horsess have a GSV.
GRASP shows up in the little block when you are looking at a progeny of Citidancer and his is in the mid 60's (if I remember right).. GRASP is only shown for sires. This relates to ability to pass on strength (or how much strength has been passed on, since sirs w/o any progeny start with a default 27 GRASP)
I'm sure others can explain much better.

Thank you for your response.
Yes, I'm very sorry, but I messed up, lol. I compared two different values here; the GSV with the GRASP. I do understand the difference, but somehow, I got to compare them without noticing my mistake.
So thank you for clearing up my confusion. Helped a great deal.
So my question then is what is the GRASP for The Dancer? Guess the a default 27 GRASP for now since he hasn't had any offspring?

Yup, he's a 27... I'm not too far from him and had really wanted to use Citidancer... so have looked long and hard at him... I actually like his pedigree better with the Buckpasser added in... I really like his almost 50 starts (wish there were more impressive races, but he's certainly put in his time).
You're not considering trucking him to AL are you? No, he needs to stay closer to OH.. I want to breed to him once he's made a few runners... or, maybe we can work out a short boarding agreement this summer

Last time I bought a $800 horse, she cost me well over $200k in truck, trailer, tack, farm, etc, etc...
If I had a crystal ball... could KNOW his potential... would be a great option... but for now, I'd like to see him go to a good home because I have a soft spot for the ones that put in a lot of starts... and would be nice to know where he is for potential future 'visits'.
I'm scheduled to go see him (how could I not?)... and you never know, maybe he'll 'speak to me".... but every stallion I've met so far has said "geld me".
Plus, given how my mares act in heat, the last thing I want is to have people send me their mares in heat from the four winds! That would be just plain annoying!
