Sweet Return

Postby Patuxet » Sat Dec 25, 2010 1:09 pm

This picks up on information I posted sometime ago in a Shakespeare thread. I try to breed for 10 furlongs on the turf at 3.

I now have an about-to-be-yearling filly by Sweet Return. She's elegant, correct and a good mover with attitude. The dam, a minor SW, is back in foal to him and I like what I see so much that I'll probably send her back to Sweet Return yet again. http://www.pedigreequery.com/restoration10

Any other Sweet Returns out there to report on?

I have another SW mare in foal to Shakespeare, due late next month. Her 3rd dam's a full to RAN; her 2nd's a full to One On The Aisle. http://www.sporthorse-data.com/dbtestma ... d=10565766 Anybody have any experience with Shakespeare offspring?

Beautiful phenotyped horse. Hope breeders interested in phenotypes may pay close attention to him.

Hope spring eternal in this game in which we often sieze at straws in search of omens to justify blind luck.

If you'll please indulge me -- I've been breeding to Sweet Return for three years now and what his son Divo accomplishes in this, only his second start, impresses and fosters optimism.

After overcoming a series of obstacles Divo, still full of run, nearly gets to the winner, a Bernardini colt which is a half to three SWs for which Darley paid $325,000 as a yearling.

DIVO (chestnut c 2010) http://www.pedigreequery.com/divo6

Thanks for the information. Would like to know if SWEET RETURN's progeny is inheriting his phenotypical roanings or are they normal looking chestnuts. What about DIVO's racing style?

That colt, Divo, had a ton of trouble. He got packed out by the riderless horse. Couton did a tremendous job minimizing the damage. Once Couton tipped him out at the eighth pole he closed well. I would be very exited if he were my horse. Love his action. He looks like he will skip over the grass..

Looks like he has 13 in his first crop, 10 to race with 1 winner and Divo. I would expect late maturing two turn turf types so the early results don't mean much to me. I have been tempted to send our mare to him:

the fact he's only got 1x of RAN is nice.
He that lives in a glass house throws no stones.

Jorge:
Look at the picture of this yearling colt we raised. Lots of similar horses in the pedigree.
