Musket Man to Vinery Florida

Postby oliverstoned » Sat Jan 29, 2011 10:12 am

First off let me say I think he went to the right place at the right price ($2500). I saw him run at the Tampa Bay Derby but didn't pay too much attention to him before the race as I was busy drooling over Warrior's Reward who looked like the two turn horse while I thought MM would be just a sprinter (got that one mixed up!). I guess his career highlight would be the Met Mile where he ran right with Quality Road. As far as his chances at stud, I'm not sure, the unpopular sireline thing doesn't bother me that much because I can think of plenty of cases where that has been overcome (Birdstone, Candy Ride etc.). The bottom line is more of a concern to me. Whatta ya'll think?

Bottom line doesnt bother me; I dont know that its any worse than Afleet Alex or Candy Ride or Yes Its True. Big good lookin horse, and unbelieveably they will work a deal on 2 or more mares. Could win short and long, game as they come, only a length off of Blame and Quality Road for less than a tenth the price of those 2. At that price how can you go wrong?

He is half the price of Kantharos and accomplised more on the racetrack.
Placed in two Classics and is a millionaire.
Plenty of sound honest horses under the first 4 dams of Musket Man especially the fillys.

A VERY Game horse on the race track indeed.....and a trait that only shows up now and again in the breeding shed. I do hope that Musket Man can pass that on to his get.

Me, too. Im lined up with 2 mares. I hate using unproven sires, but they absolutely forced me to use him at that price.
