Why didn't Three Chimneys just put him down after that ultrasound found 3 big tears in his heart? It sounds like a painful way to go.

Well does the heart have any nerves. Because of that were the case my son would be in pain all the time with the holes in his heart.

Apparently Dynaformer was comfortable after the initial heart attack and was able to be turned out in his paddock daily. See the comments from the Three Chimney's Vet in the link below.

Sounds like the care Dynaformer got was good. He survived the heart attack, was not in distress, and when the horse showed signs of distress, he was put down. The farm seems to have been willing to keep the old warrior around, and give his known personality, that's saying a lot.
