Gray Phantom (1953) in the lower half

Postby Jorge » Mon Apr 25, 2011 6:58 pm

A friend of mine and I were analyzing Gray Phantom (gray H 1953 by Ambiorix -- Grey Flight) as a very good influence in the lower half of some pedigrees. In a snap we came up with the names of Kentucky Derby favorite Best Pal (1988) and near-world record performer Just A Tab, but we know there are many other good descendants out there. Can you cite a few other examples.

While browsing his pedigree I also acknowledged that among his racing record he also achieved a great deal of starts, solid sprinting abilities plus he also raced in hurdle races. Wow what a versatile great horse he was!

Would really appreciate your comments and analysis from a breeding perspective. Can we cite 21st century horses carrying his influence.

Thanks in advance for your participation.

Give the Pope and the King of England a horse and in thirty days, they'll be stealing halters.

Another sturdy descendant from Gray Phantom is GOLD GIFT,
whose progeny will be foaled this year (2011).

I love Grey Flight anywhere in the pedigree...

I had the opportunity to browse many Gray Phantom male and female descendants for quite some time and, believe me, this is a very successful
precocious lineage, especially from 5 to 7 furlongs. Perhaps since this lineage was contemporary with the Bold Rulers and the Native Dancers, and since Gray Phantom himself was by the less than fashionable Ambiorix, his lineage is overlooked. But this lineage is superb. Well, Best Pal is a good representative.

Please add more names here. I know the names are unconspicuously there among many good ones but that's precisely part of the low profile
paradigm of Gray Phantom. Humble sire. Hey have you ever studied his incredibly versatile race record? Just take a curioud look!
