Charles Hatton describes 1965 champion 3-year-old Tom Rolfe from the 1966 American Racing Manual.

Was Tom Rolfe the last American-raced horse to contest the Arc?

Did Charles Hatton write any books about thoroughbreds?

El Senor ran in the 1991 Arc. The only other American runner I can remember ---aside from Tom Rolfe--was Carry Back.

Any others?

El Senor came ninth: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1991_Prix_ ... e_Triomphe

Carry Back came tenth: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/ ... /index.htm

I remember Jack Price was miffed because Tom Rolfe's connections didn't bother to confer with him about his experience with Carry Back in the Arc.
