Ribot line stallions

Postby IcouldbeU » Wed Nov 02, 2011 5:49 am

Are there any active Ribot line stallions? Prefer west coast but will ship almost anywhere in the US.

Pretty much all of them are further east than you are.

Hello,
maybe it's way to far away, but here in Germany stands Boreal , tracing via Java Gold to Ribot.

Behrens (Pleasant Colony) is at Victory Rose in California.

He's a stamina and slow maturing influence, so not a popular choice for modern US racing. And, quite frankly, not the best of sires. But the stamina and slow maturing can be said for most of the Ribot line.

My stud has 5 or 6th generation on bottom side that goes back to Ribot. The offspring from him on this pedgigree is Graustark and the same pedigree he sired Key To The Mint.

LOVE these old lines!!!

He stands in Idaho FYI.

Hello,
Royal Dragon (by Danehill - Carmelized by Key to the Mint) is bred 3 x 3 His Majesty/Graustark and stands in Germany.
The Sire was bred in Ireland by the Devonia Stud.

I am curious too. I love Ribot and my mare is 5 x 5 to him so if it were not for her and many of her family being really slow to mature I would send her to a Pleasant Colony line stallion.
My weanling has three strains to him in 6 generations which does not mean much of anything except I hope that Cormorant adds in some precocity and gets him to the races earlier than his mom.

I never heard that about the Ribot line being slow to mature.....my stallion was slow and so are two of his 3 foals. Third is just a weanking and she is huge compared to her two yearling siblings

But can we say for sure this is where it comes from even that far back?

No, we can't. Maybe it's as simple as their size and it's just coincidental there's Ribot in the pedigree. Or perhaps it's that many stamina laden runners tend to take longer to mature?

Ribot was a champion 2 year old and many of his offspring were good juveniles and stakes winners such as Tom Rolfe, stakes winner at 2 and champion at 3 and sire of Hoist The Flag - Champion 2 year old colt. You can lay many things on Ribot but lack of early maturity is not one of them. It may be that it takes until they are 3 to get a halter on them without losing an arm.
