Dendrology

Postby zipperfoot » Fri Dec 30, 2011 6:57 pm

Dendrology (by Fusaichi Pegasus out of Rokeby Rosie, who's half to Silverbulletday) is slated to sell at a mostly-QH auction tomorrow in Columbia, Missouri. Anyone have any information on this guy? Just curious...

He was purchased for $750,000 as a 2-year-old in training at the Keeneland April sale in 2004. Owned by Aaron & Marie Jones and trained by Pletcher for first 3 starts of his career. Second to last start he was eased (2006). In 2007 he made a start, ran up the track owned by a different owner and trained by a different trainer.

The 2006 start was in March, didn't start again until January of 2007. Owner was Gus King, trained by Jeff Hebert.

I found out about this auction yesterday and was tempted to go. Now I'm even more tempted. Not that I have any empty stalls or need any horses....

Thanks for the info, Cree.

I went out and saw him--nice looking boy, BIG (tall AND wide) and flashy (dark brown, 3 socks and a big blaze). Apparently he doesn't have much of a record as a TB sire for racing, but I could definitely see him working for hunters/jumpers or appendix QHs, maybe barrel horses. Hopefully he'll end up somewhere good.

What did this horse eventually sell for?

Sorry I didn't have a chance to respond to your PM, Appendixlover.

I don't know how much Dendrology went for, but you could contact the sale company at http://charitonvet.com/store/shome.shtml and ask them.

BTW, he's supposedly dark bay/brown, not black--don't know if that matters to you or not.

Good luck!
