Black Toney --Extinct sire line?

Postby vineyridge » Fri Jul 06, 2012 1:41 pm

Some one asked if the great Black Toney line was gone in tail male. Last I knew of were a couple in Texas through Honey Jay. And Alladin's Rib in Michigan. Alladin's Rib is probably no longer breeding and hasn't got a breeding son that I know of.

Are there any out there? Maybe stashed away in South America somewhere?

I'm trying to track a sire down that's of a more prominent nature because I could've sworn I've seen one, but Blue Eyed Streaker http://www.pedigreequery.com/blue+eyed+streaker from Black Toney via Bimelech's line is in Texas for a private fee. It passes through Better Self which specifically mentions soundness in the database here which I found interesting.

www.echohillsporthorses.com Blue Eyed Streaker is 19, been breeding since 2002. They appear to be using him to breed for color, and if you check out his picture, you can see why. Nice markings. From what I could tell, there's a bunch of unregistered offspring but that's basically not any good if you wanna get a Jockey Club registered TB baby. Some are registered, and I suppose you could get a colt and go for it.

ETA: When I googled to figure out if Crimson Satan had any descendants out there, this PQ thread came up: http://www.pedigreequery.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7160 I'm sure several of them are long dead by now as they were born in the 70s. Some are more recent, and I'm sure the ones who died have some son somewhere that's standing.

Black Toney and Blue Eyed Streaker

Blue Eyed Streaker traces to Black Toney from his sire line via Bimilech, and also on his dam side via Blue Larkspur. He is not in Texas, but is located in Louisville, Kentucky at Echo Hill Farm.
Is it true that he has very unusual coloring. He is the patriarch of one of two known lines of Frame Overo Thoroughbreds, the gene that allows for his blue eyes and beautifully painted coat.
He does have a number of Jockey Club registered offspring, including two blue eyed buckskin Jockey Club and APHA registered colts, as well as a very loudly marked black bay and white colt, KodaChrome, born in 2012. http://www.echohillsporthorses.com/kodachrome.html
KodaChrome is out of an Atticus mare, A Beauty In Black, and will also be registered with the Jockey Club and APHA.
At 19 yrs old, Streaker is still strong and beautiful, and is still breeding Tb mares. We would welcome the opportunity to breed him to mares with strong race pedigrees.

Can you share more on the two lines of Frame Overo Thoroughbreds.
This is a topic rarely exposed and it would be great for us to acknowledge more on these two lineages and their descendants. Thanks for your kindness.
