Stallion farm in PA ?

Postby Barcaldine » Wed Sep 19, 2012 2:07 pm

Looking for any thoughts on PA farms which stand stallions. I just acquired a very handsome G2 winning stallion prospect and am considering the PA market for him. I've heard a few horror stories about several farms there and would like some candid feedback about the good, the bad and the ugly.

Also considering WV.

I recently bought a filly by Alex's Pal. I do know that his daughters are doing well, but I don't know where he is standing now.

Winds would know about the farm that he stood at and how they treated her.

Alex's Pal is currently at Birch Creek Farm in Cream Ridge, NJ, and I can personally attest that this is a top-notch facility with a very professional and trustworthy owner, with reasonable rates. I love this farm, I have my mare and had a couple of fillies there, also I had my 2yo there as a layup.

Barcaldine, I will send you a PM about Pa. farms.

Northview Stallion Station is probably one of the top ones in the state.

When I first saw this discussion, I was going to reply, but figured Bohemia & I were pretty much on the same page & she had already replied. If you want an additional opinion on any you are considering, feel free to PM. But I'm betting she covered it pretty well.

Lots of competition at Northview for a horse like Alexs Pal. Doubt he would get enough mares to pay their expenses.

Griff, I think only Karenkarenn is talking about Alex's Pal because she just bought a daughter. Bohemia was correcting Alex's Pal's current state (he went from PA to NJ).

I am pretty sure Barcaldine's original question had nothing to do with Alex's Pal (and since I don't know the stallion he is standing, can't tell whether it would be a standout at Northview or not.)

I know Penn Ridge just added a new stallion & while I don't know which farms are adding new blood, thought it worth noting.

Or, it might be that Barcaldine's question was about Alexs Pal. ???

Bacaldine mentioned a stallion prospect. Alex's Pal is not a prospect, he's already at stud. I would assume he's referring to a different horse.

Barcaldine said he just acquired a G2 winning stallion prospect; Alex's Pal never won a stakes.

Guys, or gals,
This isn't about Alex's Pal okay, I put him on here because he used to stand at Pa. I don't know why he moved, however it's worth asking about.
But he was used as an example as where Barcaldine can ask, if there wasn't anyone on this forum that could help the OP out.
However since Bohemia helped, I say way to go Bohemia.
