Midshipman

Postby jeff9061 » Sun Nov 25, 2012 10:05 pm

Anyone see any of this babies at KEENOV or at home? Quite a few outs and RNAs, but they went through the ring primarily before I was there. He's in a bubble year and risky, but for a breed to race outift where he fits both physically and with a pedigree I'm curious. Don't hear much about him. Any thoughts?

Oh my goodness!

Let me alert our readers that just as
I was myself inadvertently confusing the name
of our subject horse (MIDSHIPMAN) with
that of MIDSHIPS others may
be incurring in the same error.

So let me clarify that there are two
talented horses with sort of similar
sounding names.

01. MIDSHIPS (grey H 2005): http://www.pedigreequery.com/midships
02. MIDSHIPMAN (chestnut H 2006) http://www.pedigreequery.com/midshipman5

I was looking for weanlings to pinhook and several Midshipman wnlgs made my shortlist. The ones I liked were athletic with scope and a good hip - unfortunately they sold for more than we were willing to pay based upon his stud fee and projected yearling value. Overall I think good wnlgs sold for prices very close to their projected yrlg value - a very difficult year to pinhook based upon the prices paid for good physical wnlgs. Ultimately we tried but did not buy any. We'll see if January offers anymore opportunity.
A difference of opinion is what makes horse racing and missionaries.

Thanks. That's what I was looking for. Considering jumping in on him, but want to see a few first and looking for a few other's perspective.
