Overanalyze retired

Postby Cree » Sun Sep 08, 2013 7:09 am

Dixie Union out of an Unaccounted For mare.

No reason as to why he retired in Sept of his 3-year-old season. Sorry, but Pletcher just keeps churning them out. This horse won a crappy Grade 1, is now a millionaire, can't compete with the big boys, so off he goes to produce. If anything they should've retired him after the Arkansas Derby, his value would have been highest then.

Can't say his stud fee should be more than $5000.

His 2 G2 wins as a 2yo will be popular among buyers I think - for better or worse. Dixie Union has had lots of precocious ones and for those looking for an early developer he's a prospect. He's a half to another G1 winner though the rest of the ff is pretty week, the pedigree is nothing to sneeze at.

May be one of those situations where the reason for retirement needs to be clarified or else he may be just another frail one that fascinates at 2 and fizzles at 3.

I think it's more likely the owner who, after securing a home at stud for his one start wonder, Giant Surprise, believes that any horse he has with balls deserves to be a stallion.

Every single horse Pletcher has ever trained "had the potential of xxx" bar none. I have never seen him once refer to anything in his barn as "not quite the best".

Wonderful horse; Multiple Graded Stakes Winner, wonderful stallion prospect. G-1 winner, Multiple G-2 winner. I remember the hecklers called Olympio's G-1 Arkansas Derby win a weak win, but I recall he was certainly a good stallion.

At 2: Won Futurity S. (G2,Bel,6f), Remsen S. (G2,Aqu,9f); 3rd Iroquois S. (G3,CD,8f)
At 3: Won Arkansas Derby (G1,OP,9f); 3rd West Virginia Derby (G2,Mnr,9f)

Multiple Graded Stakes winner (G-1 winner) and 1/2 brother to a G-1 stakes winner. What a great female family. I think a professionally minded breeder would be considered as having made a competent business decision taking a mare to multiple graded stakes winner Overanalyze.

I totally disagree. The other G1 winner under this mare won a weak G1, and was a solid 2-year-old, but wasn't anywhere near the best of her generation.

I can't get excited about Unaccounted For in a pedigree. If I were going to a Dixie Union son, I'd go to Union Rags, who looks the part and was one of the best of his generation.

His G1 win wasn't a great win. Other than Oxbow, he didn't beat much. The rest of his races this year were terrible, his record is 6-1-0-1. He was overrated because he won a couple of G2s, but he never really turned into the 'wonder horse' that he had been touted as.

I'll admit I haven't seen him in person, so maybe he has a Wow look to him, but I don't think he's worth more than $5000.

Overanalyze and Union Rags are very much alike, I would think the stud fee for Overanalyze would be lower thought, he didn't run is as prestigious races as Union Rags.

Overanalyze 11 lifetime starts and Union Rags 8 lifetime starts. Breed them to a mare with some stout to her.

I see Union Rags 2nd dam Terpsichorist had 28 starts and bred to Gone West her daughter Tempo (Union Rags dam) has 3 starts 2 wins 1 place. If you'r wealthy and plan to race only at the highest levels of graded stakes, breed to Union Rags for a few starts for lots of $$$.

Overanalyze pedigree; His damsire's Damascus line offers some diversity from the same old same old Mr. P or ND that is so common, his dam Unacloud is uniquely inbred 3x3 to 1/2 brothers Mr Prospector and Yukon, I think that's what helped her produce two
G1 stakes winners out of 11 foals. Nearly 20% G1 produce, imagine if it were a stallion! I don't know, he looks like a very interesting stallion prospect to me, but you're right Cree, Union Rags is probably considered to be have higher status.

I'm thinking with that 13c, 13c,13c on the bottom of his pedigree that Overanalyze bred to Seattle Slew (13 c) line mares might just take off like a Rocket with quality runners.
