Dullahan Dead

Postby Patuxet » Sun Oct 20, 2013 9:49 am

Less than one week after being retired from racing due to a tendon injury, three-time Grade 1 winner Dullahan is dead. The 4-year-old son of the Unbridled's Song stallion Even the Score suffered a ruptured colon and could not be saved despite the best efforts of Hagyard Medical Institute surgeons Nathan Slovis and Robert Hunt, according to Jerry Crawford, managing partner of the Donegal Racing partnership that campaigned Dullahan.
"He is pure air and fire and the dull elements of earth and water never appear in him; he is indeed a horse ..." Wm. Shakespeare - Henry V

A bad impaction can lead very quickly to a ruptured colon.
