The sire of Nayef was put down yesterday.

Very sad to see this old stallion pass away, but what a life he lived. He was so incredibly tough as a racehorse - winning the Met Mile between starts in the Preakness and Belmont - and a sire of champions.
I've been reading Old Friends messages about him, and he was so well-loved. It must be hard to say good-bye to these amazing horses at that farm.
RIP Gulch

I don't think he, or his sons have had the 'love' due to them. Thunder Gulch has been surprisingly good.

Run the race - the one that's really worth winning.

I have a page on him at American Classic Pedigrees (http://www.americanclassicpedigrees.com/gulch.html), if you'd care to have a look at it. Deifinitely an underappreciated hero.
